I photograph people, not versions of people they think they need to become for a camera.


My work is emotional, artful and sometimes a little unconventional. I’m not interested in making everything perfect. I’m interested in making photographs that stop you for a second.


The kind you want enormous on your wall.


The kind you find years later and realise you can remember exactly who you were when it was taken.


The kind your children will know you by.


Whether I’m photographing a wedding, a body, a pregnancy or your family exactly as it exists right now, I’m always looking for the same thing.

the girl behind the lens

a wedding and lifestyle photographer with a deeply intimate and emotive approach

I think I’ve always been fascinated by people.


The way we love. The way we connect. The tiny things we do without realising someone else is watching.


Photography gave me somewhere to put that fascination.


I’m Chrystal, photographer, mum, creative, and someone who will probably notice the way your partner looks at you before you do.


I don’t need you to know how to pose or feel comfortable in front of a camera. I want to know who you are together. What makes your kids laugh. Who reaches for who first. What your relationship feels like when nobody is asking you to perform it.


Because the photographs I care about most aren’t necessarily the perfect ones.


They’re the ones that become more valuable with time.


The photograph your children will find one day and see how young you once were. The way your mum looked at you on your wedding day. Your toddler’s hand wrapped around your finger. The person you love looking exactly as you remember them.


That’s why I photograph people.


Not just for who you are right now, but for the version of you someone is going to miss one day.
